Hi, While many sources are available for PMP Cerification Exam, there are very few for CBAP. Even the courses available from Nexient and some universities are in direct learning category. But some books are avialble in Amazon.

    Re: Business Analyst Certification Exams

Get the right education step 1 earn your college degree in a full 4-year program leading to a bachelor's degree. A considerable range of majors can lay the theoretical background needed to become a business analyst, including engineering and computer science, in addition to finance and business. Step 2 head to your local bookstore to find helpful industry guides on the skills today's business analysts are expected to have. These include manuals for improving communication and organizational skills and, for it-oriented business analysts, unified modeling language (uml) guides. Uml is a software engineering language heavily used in it departments. Step 3 complete your certified business analyst professional (cbap) credentials through an accredited institution. There are a variety of preparatory courses you can use to ready yourself to complete your cbap. You can find cbap courses leading to certification through professional organizations like the international institute of business analysis (see resources below). Get a job step 1 gain whatever work experience in business, communications, public relations, information technology or software engineering you can while you complete your bachelor's degree. Remember that internships can prove to be a very valuable source of experience as you move forward in your education. Step 2 seek a position as a junior business analyst when you have completed your cbap accreditation. The organization through which you completed your certification should be able to help link you to entry-level careers as a business analyst. You can also attend the various industry job fairs that visit communities throughout the country. Step 3 work your way up, gaining experience analyzing business procedures, policies and consumer needs. Once you gain 3 to 5 years of experience, you should find yourself in a position to become a business analyst with growth potential.

The catch here is that if you are talking about the CBAP from IIBA, you need five years of business analyst work experience before you can get the certification.

    Re: Business Analyst Certification Exams

    Hi All,

I am new to the forum...I have been researching on BA certifications for some time as planning to go one for soon. Really want to thank Deepa for sharing the CSBA details. As per my understanding, there are two leading certifications CBAP & CSBA...the CSBA covers almost all of CBAP contents and the skills required by a BA and in addition also provides skills in IT, testing, qa and business-related skills. The entry requirements for CSBA are not as strict and stringent...the entry requirements are set looking at the indian IT industry and the typical career path of a BA...the certification creates a foundation on BA skills so anyone with experience of min 2 years in IT can get enrolled for the certification. I was myself looking at the document by Deepa and on the website..the contents are aligned to IT industry and the kind of skills required in the IT scenario (i checked this with my manager too). I would be happy to get inputs from all of you before I make the decision..thanks

    Re: Business Analyst Certification Exams

    Hi doubleseven,

From my understanding and web surfing on Business Analysis programs and certifications, you can move into the BA role with 3 years of experience. You should be eligible for qai's csba certification which provide the BA skills as well as the IT skills required by BA's in IT. I am myself looking at doing the same. I can share the contact details of the rep frm qai i am in touch with. you can get in touch for more details. hope this helps give your mail id and i will send you the contact details of qai rep.

Hi I have 4+ yrs of IT experience and working as a Senior BA.
It depends on your alignment in your company. For outside chances you need to have any experience for BA role. i dont think fetching a CSBA will find ways for BA. But definitely wil help you to move in to BA role in the present firm you r working with.

If you r serious in BA get CSBA try things in your company, work as BA for sometime then find opportunities ahead.

Hi.. I have 2.5 yrs of experience in IT Infra Support (SAN). I want to shift to BA profile. In my current organisation there are no opportunities for me to explore BA as an option. I'm serious about doing CSBA but i want to know if it'll help me landing a BA role outside?

Hi!! I am a Business Analyst in a reputed firm for some 3 months prior to which i was in the software industry for less than a year. I am an engineer by qualification. I would like to know what sort of certification (if any, considering my limited experience) would be helpful for my career ahead.
