Re: Advice in Domain change

hi indra,

see friend, if you are holding 2 years of experience, surely you will be holding a strong skill, please be stable in the particular domain gain knowledge.

In your 2 years experience atleast it would have taken 6 months to analyse the company,
step by step procedure involved in work will take another 6 months.

Now you have one more year of expereice you could have faced some complex real time scenario.. Be stable learn knowledge enhance knowledge and then rock in your domain which gave 2 years experience.

I am sorry if it sounds odd from your side, i am just sharing my view... Every thing is in your hands think 100 times before keeping a single step forward, because its your career.. All can say ideas but selecting the right path to travel is with in your hands..

Let me know if any issues exists

Thanks
Deepasree

Re: Advice in Domain change

Hi Indra & Deepa,

That is a healthy topic in testing. My suggestion would be try to make yourself open for offers. I mean Testing should be your primary domain. & expertise depends on the opportunity you get. You have good expertise in banking but when you look for a job with testing and banking domain you narrow your scope. It would be better to have your expertise in all areas if you get a change. All the best.

Smile Re: Advice in Domain change

Thanks a lot Deepa,

Actually I’m in dilemma; I need one career expert’s advice at this moment. I have got total 7 yrs of working experience, 5yrs into ITES, and 2 yrs of exp in software testing.
With 7 yrs of work exp, my profile suits for Test lead/Test manager position.
However I am strong in domain knowledge.
Now in current organization I am leading modules with 8 to 10 members’ team size but with a very less pay. I’m looking for job change.
Please suggest me a right certification; so that I will be more confident to take TL/PM responsibilities.
And plz suggest me the right certifications to rock in banking domain.

Thanks & Regards,
Indira.V

Re: Advice in Domain change

HI Indra,
My advice for you is Always consider Testing as your primary domain and your secondary domain is what is your expertise. if you are looking of a job in your expertise Banking you are narrowing your scope. If you open your area wider you many get more opertunity. I mean try to do certification is testing like CSTE, CSQA, CTLF, CTAL etc. There are also certifications from domain Like NCFM (S&I) , Banking etc., try to get some certification in automationa also which will help you in your career. ALL THE BEST

Domain experts jobs depends on domain and testing expert can work in any domain.
