Re: 1. What is DHCP? How we configure DHCP

Hello Ganesh,

Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol is a protocol for assigning dynamic IP addresses to devices on a network. With dynamic addressing, a device can have a different IP address every time it connects to the network. DHCP also supports a mix of static and dynamic IP addresses.

And logon to the following link which provides configuration steps with screenshots,

Thank you,
Raafay.

END IP : 192.168.10.150 (type end ip address)
then type subnet mask for IP address : 255.255.255.0
click on next
EXPIRY DATE by default it's 8 days u can extended it to unlimited)
then sect yes
config this option 192.168.10.1
next
parent doamain name:nalb.com(type ur damain name.)
host name:sys 1
resolve
Automatic resolve IP address
click on next
WINS add :sys 1
IP 192.168.10.1

Re: 1. What is DHCP? How we configure DHCP

dynamic host configuration protocol (dhcp) is a client/server protocol that automatically provides an internet protocol (ip) host with its ip address and other related configuration information such as the subnet mask and default gateway. Rfcs 2131 and 2132 define dhcp as an internet engineering task force (ietf) standard based on bootstrap protocol (bootp), a protocol with which dhcp shares many implementation details. Dhcp allows hosts to obtain necessary tcp/ip configuration information from a dhcp server. dhcp server a computer running the dhcp server service that holds information about available ip addresses and related configuration information as defined by the dhcp administrator and responds to requests from dhcp clients. dhcp client a computer that gets its ip configuration information by using dhcp. configuration: configure windows 95/98 for dhcp * click on the start button. * select the settings option. * select the control panel option. * double click the network icon. * click on tcp/ip. * click the properties button. * configure as follows: 1.
