load test on VM

Hi,

I'm doing some tests on a VM with ESX server.

I used Mercury Tours, creating a simple script that does login, book and logout.
By the way, generating a 100 VUsers load, loadrunner does not crash my VM (think time ignored).

I only reach a CPUUtilization of 45%, with short peaks of 60-70%.

The host is a Intel Xeon Quad core CPU, with 4 GB of RAM and the VM has Windows server 2003 installed.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Re: load test on VM

-What kind of test you are doing on VM with ESX server?
-Do you have controller, LoadGenerator, Apache Server(Mercury Tours) all on a VMWare machine?
-Is 100VU test running fine without any error?
-LR version.
What kind of suggestion you want?

Re: load test on VM

Performance tests.

On the VM I've got Apache (with MT) and, on another machine, the load generator and the controller.

This machine with generator and controller is not the bottleneck of the system.

I think that there's something wrong if I cannot make my ESX crash with 100 VUsers and no think time.
During the loadtest there aren't errors.

Thanks for the answers.

Re: load test on VM

is there an option to tell LoadRunner not to go over a Response Time?

the problem is that with different number of Vusers (10,20,30,50..) Response Time grows, Throughput decreases and CPU Utilization remains the same (about 50%)!

I do want to use all the CPU resources of my VM.
There aren't bottlenecks and the machine used as Generator works greatly.

Help please!
