Re: what is oracle
It's an fastidious doubt even so many people don't know about this yaar... Anyway oracle is abbrevated as oakridge advanced computing and logical engine. It is an rdbms(relative data base management system). It is used for connectivity(giving relation) for more than one table... It works like a storage engine. Whatever data we want we can store and retrive which type of data we wants. It is user friendly, easy to maintain and querying... I think it is best suitable for you... Regards, ravikumar.d

oak ridge automatic computer and logical engine, is a computer built by oak ridge national laboratory in the 1950's. For some time this was the fastest computer in the world. It reportedly could do 100 man-years of calculations in an eight-hour work shift. However, this has anything to do with the oracle database or oracle corporation. origin of name "oracle": larry ellison and bob miner were working on a consulting project for the cia (central intelligence agency in usa) where the cia wanted to use this new sql language that ibm had written a white paper about. The code name for the project was oracle (the cia saw this as the system to give all answers to all questions or something such ;-). The project eventually died (of sorts) but larry and bob saw the opportunity to take what they had started and market it. So they used that project's codename of oracle to name their new rdbms engine. Funny thing is, that the cia was one of oracle's first customers...

difference between DB/DBMS/RDBMS/ORDBMS was follow
Data -> Collection of Raw-facts DB (Database) --> relative information of database object to manage DDL and DML commands they introduced MS(management system) DBMS -->manage DDL and DML statements (upto oracle 7 version) support all constraints except FK RDBMS --> DBMS + FK + DCL + TCL + utilities ORDBMS --> object oriented + RDBMS entities |

Oracle is most popular database. It is a full flegded RDBMS(Relational database) i.e. it follows all 13 rules of Codd.

Re: what is oracle
No it does not.
In fact no RDBMS supports all the rules of E. F .Codd. |
