Monitoring Over Firewall
Hi,
Does any one know how to over come the problem of "monitoring the load generators over firewall" ? We are able to use these machines for load generation, but are not able to monitor the measurements of these machines. When tried to add these machines to the windows resources, we were getting the error "Monitor name :Windows Resources. Cannot connect to machine stresstestxp6:62043.Reason: The network path was not found." Also note that, we are able to ping/telnet the LG from the controller, but not the vice versa Is there any router settings to be made or any other configuration has to be done? |

Re: Monitoring Over Firewall
You can either configure Sitescope that monitors these Load Generators and then configure the Sitescope monitor from the Controller to get this data or install LoadRunner monitor over FW component that can do the trick as well.
I recommend going for the Sitescope option |

Re: Monitoring Over Firewall
The client is interested in using the existing UNIX / Windows Monitors to get the data rather than to go for Sitescope. We are able to add the LG which are located within the network, but we are not able to add the LG which are located outside the network. This is where we are stuck.

Re: Monitoring Over Firewall
You can't use the existing monitors since these Load Generators are located over FW (unless you open the relevant ports in the FW so you can gain access. For Windows it is going to be acceptable by any network admin).
So my previous suggestion still stands, these are the alternatives you have |

Re: Monitoring Over Firewall
The point is that till now we are using these LGs for our different Load Tests. Now, the client wants the monitor the resource usage of these machines too. This is were we are stuck now.
The problem which we are facing is that there is only one way communication. That is, when we try to ping or use telnet from the controller to the LG, we are getting the response, but when we try the same from the LG, we are not getting the response from the controller. |
