At the time of installation of oracle 9i does it create database automatically or do we need to create and configure it seperately?

At the time of installation of oracle 9i, it will prompt you for type of databse selection, which is to be created. At this time you can choose, 'Software only' option instead of database type. So that, no database will be created.

If you really want a brand new database, at this time, you can select the database type...so that, one freah database will be created along with oracle installation.
