Basic financial data base architecture

Hello,

I am new to data basewarehousing. I read a lot of papers and didn t find a idea about this question. I have many subsidiaries each using the same duplicated financial application, then with similar (or the same) databases.

For the group data warehouse, the papers only speaks about a centralized data warehouse, collecting datas from every subsidiaries. Is there an other approach : creating as much data warehouse as subsidiaries, and then extracting data to populate the group data warehouse, what would you recommend ?

Thanks
