How to configure JRE

Hi every one
i wana do the coding in java using linux 5.0 can any one help me that how can i do that and from where i will get the java compiler compitable to linux.

Compiler to create native executables for Windows, Linux and MacOS. Supports Java 1.5 and the GUI toolkits AWT, Swing and JFace. Relies on gcj. Distributed under the GPL.
