Load Runner | Web page Diagnostics

I am using Load Runner version 9.0 and I have a query on the same. While analyzing the web page diagnostics (Please refer the attached screen shot) I find that the total component download time (represented as “1” in the screen shot) always exceeds the Average Page load time (represented as “2” in the screen shot). Please let me know why these differ.

Re: LoadRunner | Web page Diagnostics

Hi,

The average transaction response time represents the average value of the transaction in the entire scenario. LoadRunner Analysis has also "Graph Average" column that represents the average value of the transaction samples that appear in the graph. The later is good when you filter the scenario time from a certain point to another one, then you can see what's the average in this time range in the scenario.

I assume that the Web component download time is an aggregations of several breakdowns for the same transaction throughout the scenario time, which means it shouldn't be smaller than the Minimum value Analysis present, nor bigger than the Maximum, but somewhere in between and this may be bigger or smaller than the average. Is that make sense?

Generally speaking, for performance analysis purposes, I believe the breakdown is meant more for giving the performance engineer visibility into which component consume most of the time and by that what is best to optimize. For example: if you cache the js files downloaded to the client in your application then the response time would improve after the first download and then I assume the time it takes to get the First Buffer from the server would get lower as well

Hope it helps
