Why we put 1st gear for move a rest car instead of 4th gear

Because, first gear produces greater value of torque compared to fourth gear, which is required to overcome the static friction.

bcoze a car in REST need more TORQUE to move (larger dia. of gear provide this torque).

Its same as we need larger force to push any object from rest, as compare to force needed to b keep a moving object in motion.

To move any vehicle from stationary condition we required more torque over than speed, in 1st gear drive wheel is smaller than the driven wheel so more torque generates. But in 4th gear drive wheel bigger than the driven wheel, if drive wheel rotate one revolution driven wheel rotate 4 revolutions so more speed generated.so finally we select 1st gear.
