In Abinitio, we have Multifile System. Multifiles are like different partitions of an original file. For example, if we take a 4 way partition file, which implies, data of an original file is stored in 4 different locations. So, now Control File means, which has the partition files information.

Eg:
/aidevfs/mfsctl/mfs0/source/sspuliv > cat .abcd.dat.mfctl
(object mfile_c_type
(path "file:OBSOLETE")
(fs "file://[domain]/aidevfs/mfsctl/mfs0")
(local_paths 4
"file://[domain]/aidevfs/mfsparts/mfs0part000/source/sspuliv/abcd.dat"
"file://[domain]/aidevfs/mfsparts/mfs0part001/source/sspuliv/abcd.dat"
"file://[domain]/aidevfs/mfsparts/mfs0part002/source/sspuliv/abcd.dat"
"file://[domain]/aidevfs/mfsparts/mfs0part003/source/sspuliv/abcd.dat"))
