When axial load is applied on a object then thrust bearing is used.

Thrust bearing is used when the applied force is parallel to the shaft and bearing axis .
In general most of thrust bearing begin with number 5xxxx and it is for the thrust bearing only , because there are some other types which can handle axial (thrust) and radial loads
