What is header in brick work?

Square face of the brick is called as “header”. If all the bricks on the facing of the wall are placed as headers then the work is called Header Bond. Header bond is used for the construction of walls with full brick thickness. This kind of bond is not preferable for load bearing walls as it lacks strength in pressure transmission along the length of the wall. This kind of bond if good when doing curved surfaces and also can be used for the brickwork in foundation.
