The Bug can be duplicate if it has been created for the same issues for which already a defect has been logged.

I will explain it with an example.

Say you are working on a UID123 and you got to see that the Dollar flat amount was being shown with some discrepancy, and you logged a defect for it.

The very next day some one reached UID123 through another ENTRY point to that UID and he also found that the UID123 is not showing the Flat Dollar amount correctly. Now he also logs a new defect on this issue.

Though he entered the UID123 through another entry point the second defect may be rejected as a duplicate.

Discussion with the testing team

If Expected output is wrong for different scenario. Each Scenario will NOT be a defect.

The Tester who logs the defect for first time should also test and document what other scenario could go wrong.
