RCC Vs Steel Design

RCC structure includes both concrete and steel rods and they are reinforced together so that building attains more strength but in the steel design only steel trusses are used for the structure so that we can build the structure in a short period of time.

 

In RCC structure both concrete and steel are used in construction. In this structure more strength from steel structure. In the steel structure only trusses are in used. Steel structure are made in shortly time from RCC structure.

In RCC constructions the steel and concrete combine together to carry the loads. In steel constructions the steel beams and columns are the load carrying members.

RCC design is typically cheaper than steel design however steel construction can be erected in a short time frame.

With RCC Structures you cannot construct a 50 floor or a 100 storied buildings .. But this is possible with Steel Structures.

we can not usually construct RCC building more than 20 stories.Because the self weight of structure increases due to steel andl concrete in the structure itself.then we prefer steel in the building due to less weight as compared RCC structure and the steel is economical also.

In RCC design use IS456-2000 but in steel design use IS800-2008 code
