How to decommission a Solaris Server?

That was a cool answer to unplug...
What if that was a server with NIS/Storage connected.

For a decom, you should first check for the active services on the server.
something like
ps -aef | grep -i yp
for you get "ypserv" then you have active NIS..
you will have to kill that and change the files for NIS to some other location so that they dont come up again if accidentally powered on.

You will have to reclaim the storage if storage attached, for further use of that storage.
Once all done you will have to delete the DNS entries and remove from netgroups.
Thus Decommission completed.
