What would happen if two voltage sources of different magnitude are connect in parallel?

If the two sources, say batteries with voltages V1 and V2, and internal resistance R1 & R2 are connected in Parallel, then a current equal to to (V1~V2)/(R1+R2) will circulate between them assuming that the resistance of the circuit connectors is negligible. This leads to overheating of the two sources since all the power has to be dissipated as heat inside them.
