Current cetane number of DIESEL-48, BIO DIESEL-51. And cetane index of diesel is 46.

In India Current BIS specification of Anti-Knocking Index of petrol is 84 (unleaded regular) and 88 (unleaded premium).

The higher the octane rating, the slower the fuel burns. High-performance engines typically have higher compression ratios (and hence longer piston strokes) which requires higher octane (slow burning) fuel to allow the piston power stroke to complete before the fuel is completely burned.

Cetane number is a measurement of the combustion quality of diesel fuel during compression ignition. It is a significant expression of diesel fuel quality among a number of other measurements that determine overall diesel fuel quality. Cetane number is actually a measure of a fuel's ignition delay; the time period between the start of injection and start of combustion (ignition) of the fuel.
