RE: Search Operation Expected Results

The answer to this question depends on the application that is using the search engine as well as the nature of the search term. If the user is searching an application for content like a website that contains ringtones for cellular devices then the results of the search is often found in a document supplied by the content provider. As the number of return items for a particular search term becomes greater the answer to this question becomes more complex and it is more difficult to verify expected results. Neverthless understanding the search engine's algorithm will help define expected results. An organization's search engine algorithm is found in its functional requirements and technical specifications.
