What is the purpose of audit committe inside a firm & its role with external auditors?

Audit committee, a part of the Corporate Governance, which is consists of 3 non executive members of a company and this committee is necessary for public listed company, audit committee review the internal control system of a company and they also make a report to the board about the financial condition of a company. They can avoid the conflict of interest between external auditor and the directors of the company, they can assist the external auditor by producing a materials information.
