The slip in syn. machine should remain zero , because if there is slip than it is not syn, machine.
As far as slip is concerned , it is relevent in induction motors.

A synchronous machine is defined as a machine which rotates with the constant speed
slip= Ns-Nr/Ns
since in syn m/c Ns=Nr
S=0
The significance of slip comes only in induction machines where the slip exists.
