why should we use break when we want calculate the sub-totals and grand totals?

break will break the table into multiple pieces so you can better analyze data within group.once you create break you use caluculations to generate subtotals.if the table does not contain any break then the caluculation become grand totals for the entire block.

Breaks are used for analyse the information for entire black.
These are provides summing up of informatoin for the basis of blacks.
These are provides total information for entire blacks as well as sums.

Break works like groups in the Database it groups all the data based on the distinct values for the specified dimension.
It can be utilized to calculate subtotals based on the dimension involved.
the functionalites available with Breaks are:
Braek Header or Footer
Center value across the breaks
Fold
Value based breaks

Break eliminates duplicate values for an object and it displays data item once at the beginning of the control break i.e it is similar to group in data base but at the end of every group the data item will be displayed. Break is mainly used when a column is having fewer duplicates. Using break sub total and grand totals for a group can be calculated.
