This is one of the SDLC process generally we are following. Its like in fish model thats why it got the name like that.

Trend analysis is the process of finding out trend of independent variables for the system under test. Eg: for web site we can do a trend analysis with number of users v/s response time and find a trend for this. This will find an equation or graph of the systems behavior and we can later find out if things go wrong as to how it happened.

It's just of Analysing the problem/issues/bugs in the software to make the Quality better.
