What is the need for an ODS(operational data store) in data warehousing?What are the advantages of using an ODS?

Dear Friend,

ODS is nothing but the data storage where suppose data coming from different sources we let those sources sync in one data store.

I think so there is one data cleaning tool which comes before this as well as some companies also use data integration tool for integrating the data which comes from different sources like relational (Oracle),
Siebel, Flat File, XML, Excel.

ODS is nothing but only a criteria of source data which holds only current data you can take example as reservation system of indian railway.

The Data cleaning tool name which is been widely used unliked Informatica (ETL tool ) name is FirstLogic.

The need for ODS is to clean the data coming from hetrogenous sources. To maintain data quality for better warehouse which provides good reporting.
