RE: Use of Aggregator Transformation

Sourcequalifier transformation filters rows when it reads the souce data from the PowerCenter Server if you give any filter condition but Aggregator transformation is used for multiple filter conditions and even it will have default condition so you can send different conditions of data into different target tables with single aggregator rather than using may filter transformations
hope it is ok for you if not correct me

RE: Use of Aggregator Transformation
What if you want to aggregate the data down the pipeline (after manipulating the source data). This is where you require aggregate transformation.

When we use only Aggregator transformation in our mapping for approx 5 milion records it takes 40-42min time but when we use it with a sorter transformation, the time reduces to 12 -13 min. We have also noticed that throughput of select statement from source was also very high. It aggregates grouped data quickly is ok but why throughput of select statement was also higher using sorter transformation?
