This is a topic for Group Discussion, so there is no answer as such. Both will survive. Windows is ubiquitous and will continue to lead since the whole world has adopted windows and most applications are built on it. Every user desktop (almost) has windows on it.Linux is more used in technology space or tech savy folks, because of its robustness. You are right, the UI doesnot seem user friendly because you are not used to it. Its a matter of time.Linux is more popular as a backend system and not for End User purposes. They cater to different user base.Linux is now the core of Novell and Apple Mac OS is also using Linux as its core.So both will survive, just like you have competing products in any other market.
