Yes,it is easier to do by series progg method. according to this,if we have the first term as 8 ft and then as the ball bounces bak and so the series is obtained as:

8+(4+4+2+2+1+1+0.5+0.5+and so-on)
thus an infinite gp is formed with

(4+2+1+0.5+..)

=> 4/(1-1/2)=8
so 2(sum)=2*8=16+8=24

is the final answer.

8+4+2+1+0.5+0.25+0.125+0.0625+....
total distance would be approx 16ft but cannot be exactly determined. Hence d.
