General Phases:

  1. Project initiation
  2. Analysis
    1. General Business analysis
    2. Detail Business analysis
  3. Examination and study
    1. Evaluation of existing system components
    2. Problem identification
    3. Feasibility analysis of alternative approaches
  4. Design
    1. Development of General Business System Design
    2. Development of Detailed Business System Design
    3. Development of procedural solution specifications
  5. Implementation of the procedural solutions
  6. Testing of the procedural solutions
  7. Implementation of the procedural solutions into the normal business processing schedule (production)
  8. Post-implementation review of results.

Although the preceding list contains many project phases, it can be simplified to:

  • Analysis
  • Design
  • Implementation

No phase can be defined as the most important one because each phase has its on importance and functionality. So I will advice you to take each and every phase as the most important one for the successful completion of the project.

This is depend upon our work.
If we are in Developement then The most imp. step of SDLC is Analysis then the 2nd is gathering data and third is tesing.

But if some one in management level then the the main step of SDLC is Feasibility study.

This phase is responsible for answering the questions like .....
What is the problem?
What exactly has to be done ?
What are the different ways of acheiving the goal?
