Answer is 100

Steps to reach answer

Weight of 20 women is 20*130=2600
Weight of 15(3/4) women is 15*140=2100
Weight of 5(1/4) women is (2600-2100)=500

then avg of 1/4 is 500/5: 100

RE: how to calculate the answer to "the average weight for a group of 20 women is 130 pounds. If the average weight for 3/4 of these women was 140 pounds, what was the average weight, in pounds, for the rest of the women?"
The Answer is 100.

Let us assume tht the Total wt is "x"
The avg of x/20 130.
x 20*140
x 2600

Since 3/4 of 20 15

therefore Avg of y/15 140.
y 140*15
y 2100

Now Let the total wt of remaining women be z
z 20-15
z 5.

So The Total wt of 5 women 2600-2100 500.
Therefore the average wt is 100.

Answer is 100 steps
Weight of 4 women 4*130 520
Weight of 3/4 women 3*140 420
So the weight of the rest of the women will be 520-420 100
