API stands for Application Programmers Interface. API is used to Import Business Objects from Legacy to The Apps Database.

API is nothing but application program interface.

when we call an API first of all it will check the validations for the data(validations u can see in the API) that u are inserted through API, if the validations are successful the n it will insert data into the base tables.

API means we can directly insert data into base tables with standard validations through calling API.
But Interface means we have to load data into interface tables.After that we have to run Import program.
