Write testcase for performance of a watch

Showing Answers 1 - 3 of 3 Answers

There are various types of testing that can be performed on watches in general.  The types of testing that will be performed on any particular watch depends on its requirements.  Is the watch digital or analog?  If digital, does it have a stop watch?  A count down timer with alarm?  For either analog or digital, is it water resistant?  Can it be worn under water?  If so, at what depth (or under how much water pressure)?

Generally, the types of testing that can be performed on a watch are:

1) User interface
2) Usability
3) Performance
4) Load
5) Stress

Since the question asks for performance of a watch, I am only going to test performance and I am not going to test the user interface, usability, load, and stress.

I am going to assume this is an analog watch with hour, minute and second hand sweeps.  This watch does not show a day or date.

Preconditions:
1) All of the tests must be performed by comparing the watch against a highly accurate source.
2) In order for the test to pass, the watch must be accurate within a margin of error specified in the requirements.

Test Cases:
TC1:  Validate the accuracy of the second hand sweep at 5 second intervals over a 5 minute period.

TC2:  Validate the accuracy of the minute hand sweep at 5 minute intervals over a period of one hour.

TC3:  Validate the accuracy of the hour hand sweep at 3 hour intervals over a 12 hour period.

TC4:  Validate the accuracy of the watch over 30 days.
