Bitmap checkpoint is used to verify properties of an bitmap or image. Through bitmap checkpoint we can not edit expected properties of an image.
Image checkpoint can be used to edit certain properties of image like name, html tag, image source and type of image etc.  Image checkpoint is another part of standard checkpoint .

Bit map check point we need not have any image, it goes by the screen area.
But for image check point we need to have an image.
