While Creating Business Document, Make sure you start from small problems. Don’t jump to big problems right way. Keep the Business sponsors and IT folks in the loop. Make sure your document clearly state Exceptions, Assumptions and Limitations. Sometime you need to keep in mind the legal issues. Business document should be well written for usability and for future projects.

There is no particular format for the Business plan,But it is the set of goals that the company has set and the plans for reaching thos goals.It may also contain background information about the organization or team attempting to reach those goals.

Some some key points that i can add a BA to keep in mind for a plan is :
Gathering reqirements,
understaning the business process,
Understanding the scope,
MOdel the things in the business entity model,
Create UML diagrams,
Functional and non-functional requirements ...

1 : Define your Communication channel ... This is the most important decision one has to take before even starting the business plan.

2 : Decide on the recipient's of the business plan.

3 : Start your interaction from the lowest level of business (end) users ... This is will eliminate many confusions that may arise over a period of time.... Keep all the Stakeholders in the Loop to avoid future debates.

4 : Use a simplified language to enable easier comprehension by NON-IT Folks.

5 : Define Jargons commonly used and their implications on the business (Like: Interface, Integration, Business Process mapping etc ...)

6 : Decide on the templates and formats to proceed with the Business Plan preparation.

7 : Record all assumptions made.

8 : Record all open issues and Resolutions made ...
