Why hardness of SS316 & 304 are not changed by heat treatment

as both of these have low carbon content ..so though we apply heat treatment ,there wiil not be much increse in hardness..it can be increased by caarburising or nitriding..

Basically these SS 316 & SS 304 are Austenitic Stainless Steel i.e. These steel contains austenitic structure at room temperature. These steel cannot harden by any heat treatment, even after solution annealing structure is austenitc and this is the softest phase in Iron carbide diagram.
