In SAP terminology VIEW means restrictions given to the data,

There are four types of views available are  
1. Projection,
2. Database,
3. Maintenance and
4. Help view.

The view which you said is not 'VIEW' but it is 'IVIEWS'.

hey as far as i know in a web dyn pro application a view is a component of a page... u will only be able to navigate from one view to another... u can have more than 1 view in a window.

SAP 'veiw' are std screen provided with information fields which server a particular pursose.
eg: Material master information is divided into various group of information like basic sales mrp account costing etc.
