Hi,

BootStrapping is most often applied to the process of starting up a computer, in which a mechanism is needed to execute a program that is responsible for executing software programs (such as the Operating System). In other words, a simple program which is used to initiate a complex program.

Pls corrrect me, if I am wrong.

   Whenever we switch on the computer, first the booting process is done.

   Booting: Storing the copy of the Operating System from the hard disk to the main memory.

  This booting process is done by the Bootstrap Loader, and this entire process is called as Bootstrapping.

    When the computer initially is turned on or is rebooted from the keyboard with Ctrl-Alt-Del, it ``pulls itself up by its bootstraps.'' See also warm booting, cold booting
