Let's clarify things first. You probably *have* access to delete the dataset or your would have got an S913 or an ICH408I error.Someone else has the dataset in exclusive mode. There could be many many reasons for that simply editing a job could have it or it could be allocated to a CICS region.Your first job is to figure out who has it. The console command D GRS C . However if you don't have an outstanding enqueue against it this may show nothing. In that case you should issue D GRS RES (SYSDSN xxxxx)If it's a TSO session you should ask the person using it. If it's a batch job you should see who submitted it. If it's a CICS region or DB2 you should NOT try to delete it.Remember - The mainframe is makes the basic assumption that the user is competent. Other users should RTM before they shoot themselves in the foot.
