I am keen to know, what is meant by software testing on a music system(product)...how is it done?

On the product testing could be of:
1. If the unit has CD/ DVD player check whether the jump previous next skip play pause stop resume power-off/on functionalities are working.
2. Check for the display if the track name is getting displayed along with the progress bar elapsed time and the total time.
3. Has radio channels check for the content.
4. the other things depends up on the product requirement(s)

firmware (software inside the hardware):
1. testing could be on different version of the firmware that sits inside the hardware that will pass instructions to the display and the navigation buttons.
