1. If the workstation has static public IP then it is simple. Type ftp://abcd
in FTP client running on outside computer connecting to internet where abcd is the
IP-address of the workstation.
If the workstation has static private IP then you need to configure port forwarding on the router. In port forwarding you will tell the router that forward all the
FTP requests from outside world to workstation's IP address. Once properly configured the
FTP can be used as mentioned above.
2. I assume this question is pretty old and the wireless device you are talking about is a GPRS enabled infrared device (which is called wireless at that time). If that is the case then you need to turn on the accept infrared connection in the windows control panel. Once windows detect the incoming connection it will ask for drivers. Install appropriate drivers and modem drivers. Then configure the dialup connection which depends upon the service provide. Now the system is ready to connect to the internet.
3. You need to always keep the wireless unit aligned otherwise the line of sight will be missed and the connection will be terminated. Another problem is the slow baud rate of the infrared connection.
