Hi srilatha, How we can decide which tool is best? the tool is decided by our client only.. Depeding upon project , he can decide which tool has to be used by us.. For testing ourself (for learning), we can use any of QTP, WR, Silk also.. Srinivasulu.B (srinivasulub1981@gmail.com)

winrunner and qtp is for the same purpose but qtp is more advanced and have more disadvantages.Winrunner has 4 checkpoints while qtp has 9chkpts.

There are lots of parameters that needs to be considered for identifying the appropriate automated testing tools.

Does the tool supports the technology of the AUT.(For Example Only QTP and silktest supports the .Net application,WinRunner doesn't).

Learning Curve of the Testing Tool.(i.e,how fast the tool can be learnt..For Example the learning for SilkTest is too high compared to QTP)

Cost of the Testing Tool.

Expertise of the Testing Tool.(Does the tool has got enough Customer support,online support etc.,)

Does the tool has got good reporting features?

Does the tool has got Database support?

There are lots of factors that needs to be considered..I have listed only few which came to my mind.
