Hi,

    what is session?

When ever u create session it will ask for map which it has to link. For each seesion we can have one map to link with session and worklet which is used as a resuable one can have number of sessions in it.

 What is Task

Suppose u want to excecute some  Pre-Session or post session i..e...If u want to do some work after the exceution of session ,we can do it by task. Suppose ur creating two target  flat files in unix  from session(i..e mapping) then u want to concatenate this two target flat files then write concatenate shell script in unix and include the same in task. U can create reusable tasks which we can use it for every session when and they require....... thanks .......if u have any doubts regarding this mail me lingeshkumar.n@gmail.com

SESSION

Session tells the server, how to fetch the metadata from repository for the specified mapping (data flow).

TASK

Task is a particular work that is for eg. Assignment Task is used to assign a value to the variable for the entire workflow.

Still confusion then Wrtie me: nalla_ramsri @ yahoo . com

Hi all,Could anyone tell me why session fails when running a workflow? I don't see any records being inserted to target table though source table has data. There are sufficient permissions to the user who is running workflow and relational connections are pointing to the correct databases. This whole exercise is taking place on windows xp pro and backend database is oracle 10 EE. Any help is appreciated.ThanksKamalnayan

Hi All,I need to put the value of a col (request-id) in the text of the body of the post-session success/failure email which I have to send in Informatica. How to achieve this? We cannot, I guess, use a Parameter File for this as it would take the same value everytime and put it in the email. I want to use the value of request-id which will be different on each session run and capture that value in some parameter/variable and use that in session in the post-session email.Kindly suggest a way to

Im trying to fill a primary key field of a target using a trigger on the table to insert a sequence number for each insertion of a new row. After running the session im finding that the key column is populated ,but, not in an order. the key field starts with some 75 goes till 200,the again 551 comes and goes till 10500 ,suddenly the next key field is filled with 21 and goes till 72.... is there any reason why this is happening in this reason.FYI : i truncated the table data ,then dropped the seq.
