QTP uses Smart Identification mechanism, if it unable to identify objects during run-time or more than run object posses the same properties of Test Object.

We need to enable Smart Identification, by checking the check box for the object and need to select the properties for Smart Identification.

QTP, by default selects mandatory properties. If these properties not sufficient to qualify the object during run time, we can enable smart identification and choose some other mandatory/assistive properties to identify the object.

The best example is: For a human to identify we name(Name, age, DOB, Location etc.). Assume now you are shifted to some other location. Now i can identify with(Name, age, DOB, Your destication of your Journey, Date of your journey etc). This is the same way Smart Identification will work(taking other properties help, when it does not identify the object).
