Hi,

Generally we will prepare the tracability matrix for the client requirements. As per the client Requirements we have to prepare the test cases so Client has to provide correct requirements and workflows.

When the client is filed a bug we need to add a testcase to the existing test Scenario by that there is no chance to miss the client workflow next time of testing..

Actually, No one can give guarantee that the software is bugs less!!!

In real scenario there may be any pinhole that cause bug...

So, if there is any such case, tell, I will take care for next time actually I am not aware of such scenario but will think in this direction..(make a note of it in front of manager)

I think to avoid this kind of situation, as a test Manager to Safe Gaurd our test team.. I woud get all my Test Cases reviewed and certified by UAT Team.. That will ensure that there are very Limited or no Gap after test signoff

.. Even after that UAT find a bug we can Point to the Certified Document saying if there was a Gap in Test condition why was that it was not found during UAT review

Then we can go Back to Table and try to fill that GAP after discussing with various team

UAT is always done against UAT test plan. when a tester does testing he/she should consider it.I think we should try to use real data that time. If still user get the bug , its tester drawback always,no matter how good he/she is?there is no ans. just to say that this bug will never occur in future.

Pravin,You are right but as a tester if we missout on a certain test condition, it is our fault. so not being there in the list of tests sent to UAT doesnt mean that its not our fault. We just need to accept the mistake if the defect lies within our scope of test as it is our responsibility to think in various directions for whatever is being tested and that is what we are paid for!!!What do you say? Also remember, a review will most of the times verify your test cases (reality) but cannot validate them :-) I mean check whether the coverage is 100% or not. There is no way to get 100% test coverage to any application. Its only through brainstrormin that we can get close to the target.Surya
