Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) refers to the process of managing the entire lifecycle of a product from its conception, through design and manufacture, to service and disposal.  It manages descriptions of a product throughout its life from a business and engineering point of view.  The PLM domain as well as the domain of any web-based product depends on its industry and the organization it serves.
