?999 < ?1000

2) "If i bought as many yards of each as there were pieces per yard in cents."
1 yard = ?1

3) "I paid 215 cents more for one of them. "
215 yards = ?215

4) "Then how many yards of each did i buy?"
?999 - ?215 = ?784
?784 / 2 = ?392
?392 + ?215 = ?607

392 yards for one
607 yards for the other
