1) "I bought 2 nursery drapes for less than $10."
$10 = 1000
999 < 1000

2) "If i bought as many yards of each as there were pieces per yard in cents."
1 yard = 1

3) "I paid 215 cents more for one of them. "
215 yards = 215

4) "Then how many yards of each did i buy?"
999 - 215 = 784
784 / 2 = 392
392 + 215 = 607

392 yards for one
607 yards for the other
