Short for Redundant Array of Independent (or Inexpensive) Disks, a category of disk drives that employ two or more drives in combination for fault tolerance and performance. RAID disk drives are used frequently on servers but aren't generally necessary for personal computers.

HI

RAID:Redundent Array Of Inexpansive Drives;

Besically raid can be done in either Software RAID or Hardware Raid.

for h/W RAID we need raid controllers which is hot swappable.

where as S/W Raid is done without a raid controller card.it can be done from disk management option.

Raid types 0,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,01,10,05,50

RAID DEGRADE error msg WILL SHOW if raid damaged

RAID 6 HAVING HIGHEST FAULT TOLERANCE UPTO 2 HARD DISKS.
