It's not possible to say 100% testing is completed and 100% bugs are fixed.

here what we say means as per requirements maximum testing has been done.

It's impossible to say 100% bugs are fixed.

Hi,

100% bugfree testing is not at all possible. If we say 100% testing is completed, then that will be the end to any software. Then why we are getting so many projects still. Because we didn't develop a bugfree project. We can't develop a bugfree project.

Take an example, Why Win Runner, Oracle has so many versions? Yahoo Messenger, Rediffbol has versions? so many examples are there.

I'll give a real time example. HSBC is client to XXXXXXX company. Everyday there are problems in customer side. Everyday Developers and Test Engg.s clarifying and fixing the bugs in the real usage which is also called support or maintenance. Finally what i mean to say is, No project is 100% bugfree. We can do 100% testing, but we can't assure that we have developed a 100% bugfree project or product.

We can say testing is completed when dead lines are met, when project budget is over, when all High and Medium bugs are fixed and many ......

thanks all the best

There is no end of testing, so we can't say that a product is 100% bug free. Ya there is a specific deadline for testing after which testing gets stopped but it doesn't mean that a product is now free of bugs. Start testing again and you will find more and more bugs.

There is no 100% Bug Free Product .However 100% Testing is relative declaration. If we ensure by testing the customer expectation is assured, then we say 100% testing is done(remember we are not assuring Bug Free product)No customer will accept the product without adequate testing (it could be 100% or 90%) even if your dead line is reached. That is only our mindset

ya,we can say that testing can be 100% to certain extent i,e when we execute all test cases, but it is not possible to say that s/w is bug free.Testing can only show the presence of defects, not the absence of defect.

there is nothing like bug free in this whole world,U can spend whole of ur life in testing a particular product if U want.So U need to stop testing at some point. So u can stop depending on lot of factors like:

1.all critical bugs are fixes.

2.Certain percentage which is acceptable by the customer is fixed.

3.Due to time constraints.

4.Due to financial constrains.

It's all decided by the team leader not by the tester. So thr is no 100% testing or 100% bug free product.

I hope I could satisfy ur queries.

Its impossible for a 100% testing,since1. The no of possible inputs r l;arge2. The no of possible outputs r very large3. The no of paths thru d s/w is large. A tester can show d presence of the bugs in a s/w but cant show that bugs doesnt exist. as per his view there might not b a bug, but there is possibilities of bug existence.

No product is bug free, 100% bug free product is not possible in real time situation. You just focus on major bugs and meet to client deadline, simultaneously keep resolving all known bugs and release update.

Short answer: No.
Long answer: its theoretically possible but as more bugs are found, the quality of the product continue to raise making every new bug found increasingly costly to a point where the value, or business sense, no longer justifies the cost of continuing testing. Passed a certain threshold, it would be significantly cheaper to just deal with the unknown, or extreme corner cases, as they occur in production, if ever. As a result, I believe, bug free products have never been achieved.

May be 100% automation is possible, but 100% bug free software is not possible, because more than testers, the end users are customers are real testers at the end of the day.
