Why Transistors are not used as switching devices?

This is not a correct question. If an interviewer asks you, you should ask in return what kind of transistor are you talking about? Is it MOSFET, BJT, THYRISTOR etc. All semiconductor transistors are used as switching devices depending upon the application.

Becoz they are fast and we can control large power ckt of high voltage with small gate current or voltage.
