Can anyone tell me what is meant by Metrics? Or more specifically, what are the Metrics in testing?

The objective of Test Metrics is to capture the planned and actual quantities the effort, time and resources required to complete all the phases of Testing of the SW Project.

Software Metric is a measure of some property of a piece of software or its specification. Metrics generally of 2 types : (1) Process Metric & (2) Product Metric

Process Metric : Measuring the characteristics of the method,tools and techniques employed in developing, implementing and maintaining the software system.

Product Metric : A metric used to measure the charactericstics of the documentation & code.

Note: There are many types available under Testing Metrics.

Hi,

Metrics is quantification of objective criteria with statistical data.it gives the exact information of the task,so as to know whether that is profitable or not

for  example in testing we use test case metrics,it gives the info like,how many test cases are written,how many executed,how many passed,how many failed etc;
